The Advanced Seminars will meet on the following dates:

September 24-26, 2010 Dr. Chris Baker will speak on Early Treatment / Pedodontics. Dr. Baker was a critical care Registered Nurse for 10 years, before earning her DMD from University of Kentucky and her certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from University of Connecticut. She also spent a year fellowship in Orthodontics at UConn, and served on faculty in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics for seven years. She then joined Dr. Walter Doyle in practice and teaching seminars. Today, after 25 years in dentistry, Dr. Chris’ approach to pediatric dentistry and orthodontics is based in prevention, with emphasis on orthodontic treatment procedures for the preschool and school-age child to improve the growth of the entire face, while guiding growth into an attractive, stable, functional occlusion. She currently practices in Lexington, Kentucky as a pediatric dentist performing orthodontics. Among her achievements, she is on the faculty of the Univ of Lousiville Dental School and lectures worldwide for AOS.

Topics to be covered include:

Nov 3-Dec 2, 2010 Dr. Duane Grummons is board certified orthodontist. He is recognized internationally for his innovative approaches to facial orthopedic, TMD and orthodontic treatments, has lectured for orthodontic societies, departments and meetings in 44 U.S. states and many foreign countries and has authored a textbook, chapters and articles regarding non-extraction innovations, frontal analysis for crooked faces and smiles and facial esthetics.

Topics to be covered include:

TMD and Orthodontics ~ Sense and Nonsense: 1. Ortho causes TMD? Ortho cures TMD? Neither? 2. Subgroups of dysfunction patients must be distinguished 3. Evaluation, imaging and splint considerations 4. What matters when in ortho treatment?
Facial Asymmetries…The Essentials from the Front: Patients view themselves from the frontal perspective, so this carries priority in assessing problems and determining 3-D treatment approaches. Great smiles have harmony, symmetry, and maxillary width consistent with individualized facial morphology and balance. Utilizing frontal information, therapeutic approaches are individualized, while directed toward specific causes and etiology. Occlusal plane, midlines, chin location, and smile esthetics are optimized. Asymmetry of the facial parts is the rule, rather than the exception.
Mid-facial Class III Treatments…Facemask Therapy and Beyond
Class II Mandibular Herbst Therapy…Treatment Particulars
Early Treatment…The Right Treatment at the Right Time: Early orthopedic intervention and nonextraction approaches provide for best functional occlusion, proportional structural components, with an esthetic smile and optimized TMJ support.
G’s Secret Ortho Sauce…Ideas that Sizzle: Dr. G’s Ortho Secret Sauce sizzles with substance, key changes and innovative strategies for a thriving practice. This lecture is a practical guide for converting your challenges into a fun, synchronized team which dazzles! He will share proven ideas and motivational keys which become yours.
Following conclusion of this session, each attendee will be able to manage: 1. Cranio-mandibular (TMD) co-management during orthodontics 2.Smile esthetics regarding occlusal plane, midlines, and chin location 3. Frontal asymmetry analysis and clinical applications 4. Class III treatment with palatal expansion protraction and facemask therapy.
